“Julia will be directing our epic Opening Ceremonies. Julia directed several shows with Basement Arts while at the University of Michigan, including The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, the reboot of which premieres later this summer in Chicago. Julia has appeared in various Team Starkid productions, including A Very Potter Musical and Holy Musical B@man! She is a co-founder of Glow* Collective, an online community that seeks to inspire and empower women, and she is also the author of A Glamorously Unglamorous Life, which was released last summer.

Devin will feature in our Opening Ceremony and will serve as one of our Fittie 5K coordinators. Devin is a fitness buff and a contributing member of Fitting It In, a health and fitness blog founded by Melissa Anelli. Devin will also participate in a body image panel with Hunger Games star Jackie Emerson. She has also appeared in various Team Starkid productions, including as Cho Chang in A Very Potter Musical and A Very Potter Senior Year. And no, she doesn’t really have a Southern accent (even though she is from the South!). She attended the University of Michigan and currently lives in Los Angeles.

Thoughts on the latest Glow* Post

Julia’s post two days ago really struck a chord in me, as it’s something I’ve been thinking about lately too. Right now I’m in the midst of somewhat uncomfortable circumstances, feeling nervous about being able to find a job for the summer and being able to pay for university. Plus the spring course I did two weeks ago left me feeling overwhelmed and unable to handle all the work. I’m still working on a 10-page paper for this class (and I thought I was done with papers at the end of the year!). I’m looking forward to when life can settle down into a comfortable rhythm. But Julia’s post reminded me of the importance of being comfortable with the uncomfortable.

We don’t achieve the things we want, the relationships we desire, any of it by seeking out what makes us feel comfortable or secure- we find these things by developing the ability to be a little scared or unsure and take chances anyone. ”

As much as I hate uncertainty and just want things in life to flow smoothly and not feel unsettled or confused, I know there is a greater benefit in that than when everything goes well. So I don’t know how this summer is going to go, and that makes me uncomfortable. But I want to try to be okay with that.

I wonder if Starkid/Brian is going to be amused by the posts they find or weirded out or a mix of both…

adaptableheart:

You come with open arms.
You say “I love you for who you are.”
When I was haunted and alone with this baggage on my back, dragging me down.
You set me free.
You set me free.
You set me free.

Powerful song!
